A study of ac losses in (Bi2-x,PbxSr2Ca2Cu3O10�d / Ag tape relevant to industrial high power applications
This project had for bjective to advance the implementation of high temperature supraconducting electrical power engineering devices through increased knowledge of the fundamental mechanisms of AC losses in Bi-2223/Ag tapes.
The Supra Group took part in the following tasks:
- Electrical measurements of AC loss at 77K in self at power and high frequecies.
- Determine the loss behavior and stability of Bi-2223 tapes suject to perturbations in the transport current with values above Ic.
- Investigate how a DC field, applied at different angles to the tape surface, affects the AC losses, measured by electrical characterisation method.
